THOMPSON SQUARE SOARS TO #1 WITH “IF I DIDN’T HAVE YOU”

TS-Just-Feels-Good-CVR-400x4002x ACM and Reigning CMA Vocal Duo of the Year’s New Album Earning Rave Critical Reviews

(NASHVILLE, TN) – Husband/ wife duo Thompson Square’s star continues to rise as the couple’s latest single, “If I Didn’t Have You” soared to #1 yesterday on both the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart and the Country Aircheck/ USA Today chart, powered by Mediabase.

The duo’s second #1 accomplishment is especially poignant for Keifer and Shawna Thompson because “If I Didn’t have You” was co-written by the duo about the love between Shawna’s mother and father, in the wake of her father’s passing from cancer last year. The #1 accolades also fell on a date very special to the duo:

“Writing your first number one is an amazing goal to reach. Writing your first number one song inspired by the loss of your Dad and having it go number one on his birthday is a gift straight from heaven,” says Shawna Thompson. “We want to thank all of our fans and country radio for making this possible.”

The commanding, fast-paced ballad has sold nearly 600,000 singles to-date for the Stoney Creek Records duo. “If I Didn’t Have You” showcases the undeniable strength and versatility of both Keifer and Shawna Thompson’s voices. While the fiercely swelling instrumentation embodies life’s heartaches, Thompson Square’s vocals exude a powerful tenderness that clearly expresses their love for one another.

Co-written alongside Jason Sellers and Paul Jenkins, “If I Didn’t Have You” was penned by the same foursome that collaborated on Thompson Square’s award-winning hit single, “I Got You.” Watch the official music video here: http://youtu.be/UptgRHX4JsI

Thompson Square’s latest #1 single comes on the heels of the duo’s second consecutive ACM win for Vocal Duo of the Year earlier this month in Las Vegas and amid critical praise for it’s recently released sophomore album, Just Feels Good, which marked the highest album debut of the duo’s career.

Country music’s biggest breakout act of the last 2 years, husband and wife duo Thompson Square pounded the pavement for 15 years in the music industry before landing a record deal with Benny Brown’s small independent label Stoney Creek Records (sister label to indie Broken Bow Records and home to Jason Aldean). Since that day, Thompson Square has earned over 25 awards show nominations – including 2 GRAMMY as well as American Music Award and Teen Choice Award nods – and made music history when it was awarded awards from both the ACM and CMA for “Vocal Duo of the Year” in 2012. Thompson Square was awarded its second consecutive ACM Award for Vocal Duo of the Year in April 2013.

Thompson Square’s breakthrough hit “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not” has surpassed two million in sales, was the #1 Digital Soundscan Single for 5 weeks straight, the #1 Country Ringtone for 12 consecutive weeks and was iTunes 2011 Country Song of the Year. Thompson Square’s whirlwind 2011-2012 saw them on national tours supporting Jason Aldean and Lady Antebellum as well as gracing the stages of The Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, CBS This Morning, Conan, Fox & Friends, FOX’s All American Concert Series, the 45th Annual CMA Awards, CMT’s Artists of the Year special, NBC’s The Better Show special and the MTV/VH1/CMT “Best of 2012” concert celebration. Thompson Square ended 2011 as Billboard’s #1 New Country Artist in terms of digital sales and the #6 New Artist across all genres. Follow-up hits include the award winning infectious, “I Got You,” (#6) and the critically-lauded power ballad, “Glass” (#15). The duo’s latest smash, the #1 “If I Didn’t Have You,” marked Thompson Square’s highest first-week sales of its career and has surpassed half a million in sales.
